The students and teachers of Conant High School are having problems with the flex software due to glitches in the system.
Students and teachers of Conant High School have been complaining about flex software problems since the beginning of putting the software into use.
Ms Shulman, Flex Facilitator said, “Dozens of people have come to me with complaints.”
The software has had recurring problems involving the loss of flex periods for both students and teachers.
When asked if she has experienced any problems with the flex program, Shulman said, “We experience difficulties with the program regularly. Data is lost, the computer program moves students out of where they wanted to be, and teachers lose offerings.”
Students are regularly being kicked out of their flexes everyday without an explanation.
Maria Dupuis, a junior at Conant High School said, “At least a few times a month I get kicked out of a couple of my flexes and then I have to find a new place to go because the flex that I was supposed to be in was full.”
Students are also having trouble signing up on time due to the websites glitches.
Nahomy Menjivar, a senior at CHS said, “A lot of the time if I am signing up when everyone else is, the site would crash or won’t let me log in, so then I don’t get to sign up on time.” She continued to say that, “I met with Mr. Duncan about flex and he talked over us the whole time and didn’t really listen to what we had to say.”
Teachers are making sure that their students are signing up for their flexes but most times the students get kicked out.
Ms Long, a math teacher at CHS said, “Everyday I have major problems. I go around and check to make sure that they are scheduled on friday, and then when I look on monday and their flexes have disappeared.” Continuing to say “sometimes my own flex offerings have disappeared.”
These problems are leaving the students and teachers of Conant High School to wonder if any changes will be made.
Shulman says that “I have experienced using other scheduling programs that may do a better job” and she, “believes the administration is considering their options.”
